Structural characteristics of acupuncture needles made of different materials

1. Stainless steel filiform pins

Filiform needles made of stainless steel are commonly used. Stainless steel filiform needles have high strength and toughness. The needle body is straight and smooth. They can not only withstand heat but also have good anti-rust performance and are not easily corroded by chemical substances. These characteristics have enabled stainless steel filiform needles to be widely used in clinical practice.

2. Gold needle, silver needle

The electrical and heat conductivity of gold and silver needles is significantly better than that of stainless steel filiform needles, but their needle bodies are relatively thicker and their strength and toughness are inferior to those of stainless steel needles. Moreover, due to its high price, it is generally less used in clinical practice.

3. Iron needles and ordinary steel needles

Iron needles and ordinary steel needles are prone to rust and have poor elasticity, toughness and firmness. Apart from being occasionally used in the magnetic needle method, they are now basically not adopted.
