The materials and advantages of acupuncture needles

Dear friends, acupuncture, as a traditional therapy in Chinese medicine, has a long history. And acupuncture needles play a key role in it. Currently, the commonly used acupuncture needles in clinical practice are made of stainless steel, such as OCr19Ni9, an austenitic stainless steel wire. Stainless steel filiform needles have many advantages. They have high strength and toughness, a straight and smooth needle body, can withstand heat and rust, and are not easily corroded by chemical substances. In contrast, although gold and silver needles have good electrical and heat conductivity, they are thicker, have lower strength and toughness than stainless steel needles, and are more expensive. Therefore, they are less used in clinical practice. Iron needles and ordinary steel needles are prone to rust, have poor elasticity, toughness and firmness. Except for occasional use in the magnetic needle method, they are basically no longer adopted. When using acupuncture needles, we must ensure their quality in order to achieve better therapeutic effects.
